Orbis Law

Orbis Law

Welcome to Orbis: A new powerful search engine to help you find, see, and listen to lawyers pitch their services.

Description.

Orbis allows lawyers all over the United States, the ability to advertise themselves and their services via 60 second to five minute commercials which are housed on the Company’s website and through its custom designed app, which can be seen anytime, and as many times, as a potential client would like to see them, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“One minute of video is worth 1.8 million words… If you were to write 1.8 million words on a blog post, it would take approximately 3600 pages. A simple video does the work in a fraction of the time.”
-Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research

Our Role.

UX/UI Design, Mobile Development, Project Management, QA, DevOps, Support.

The Challenge.

  • Our main task was to create a cross-platform application that would feel natural on both platforms—iOS and Android. In addition, the app should combine two types of accounts at once: regular user account as well as lawyer account.We were able to highlight the importance of video content in the application by designing it in such a way that videos are more visible than other forms of communication. We also gradually encouraged lawyers to upload their own videos, which they could do with ease thanks to our design choices.

    To simplify the registration process, we added several options for automatic authorization using third-party user accounts—such as Google, Facebook and Apple.

  • An important part of our user experience was to allow users to search and filter lawyers by category or nearby distance. So we used Google API to display lawyers within a certain radius around the user—and their corresponding distances away from them.

    To make it easier to find the right lawyer, we added tags and a feature that allows users to filter results by type of law.

    This made it possible to give users a simple and intuitive way to find the lawyers who best suited their needs.

Project Management.

  • After an initial assessment, we broke the project down into four main blocks: user authorization; functionality for regular users; functionality for lawyers; and a mechanism that would allow switching between accounts.

    In accordance with the Scrum methodology, we divided our project into two-week sprints. At the end of each sprint, we checked our work with the Product Owner and made changes if necessary so that planning could be done well in advance for upcoming sections of code to be implemented.

    Because the team did its best to keep the product owners happy and satisfied, it was able to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

  • The workflow involved four iterations:

    • Users authorization;
    • Functionality for regular users;
    • Functionality for lawyers;
    • Mechanism that would allow switching between accounts;

Key Features.

  • Search and filter lawyers based on your location.

    With the application, ordinary users can quickly register, give access to their geolocation and search for lawyers nearby by filtering them by distance, tags and areas of expertise.

    After searching, users can view video presentations of lawyers and information about their services.

  • Promote your services by setting up a lawyer account.

    Lawyers can create their own account and upload photos, video presentations about themselves, add tags for better search as well as other additional information. They can also choose the areas in which they work and list their location.

    When they have created and filled out their profile with the necessary information, it will be available to other users when they search for somebody like that.

Results.

  • Cross-Platform

    The application's design and functionality are uniform across both the iOS and Android platforms.

  • Responsive

    The application is designed to adjust to different screen sizes, from the iPhone SE (which has a tiny screen) through large tablets.

  • The product was completed on schedule
